Diabetes can indirectly damage the make sexual system. Here’s how:

Nerve damage As mentioned above, diabetes is known to affect blood vessels and this result in the development of high blood pressure and heart disorders. Along with blood vessels, diabetes also damages nerve endings in various parts of the body including those present in the penile area of men. It leads to erectile dysfunction and other sexual illnesses such as loss of libido. Another sexual disorder men suffer from due to uncontrolled diabetes is retrograde ejaculation. This is a condition in which men produces semen and achieves orgasm too. But the semen cannot be ejaculated outside the body. Instead of that it travels to the urinary bladder. This is not serious but men affected with this issue won’t satiate women in bed.

Sperm DNA damage

Another ill effect of diabetes is that it damages sperm DNA. In a study done with 27 diabetic males, researchers found more sperms with damaged DNA in the semen sample collected by those men. The ratio was more than those undergoing treatment for infertility. Though all sperm DNA was not damaged, but it is a warning sign that diabetes alters sexual health in men.
