This is a new group although the players have each been involved with a World Music of klezmer, Balkan, and Sephardic jazz influences for many years. Through mutual knowledge and admiration of each other’s music it’s natural they have come together to create a new synthesis of the above elements.

Reut Regev was born and raised in Israel. Since arriving at NYC in 1998 Reut has taken part in various musical projects, playing Jazz, Latin music, Improvised and Contemporary classical, Klezmer, Blues, Rock, and more. She has worked with Anthony Braxton, Butch Morris, Frank London, Elliott Sharp, Firewater and Grupo Irek among many others. Igal Foni
Born and raised in Israel, spending years Brazil and France, Igal, Who has been residing in NYC for the last 12 years, draws his inspiration from the corners of the world. Playing Latin percussion in Brazil, Metal, Jazz and R&B in Israel (with The Black Hebrew community, Harold Rubin, and more), and Indian, African and Jazz in Paris (w Rasul Siddik, Vincent Segal and more). Since moving to NY Igal has played and recorded with many great musicians, including Avram Fefer, Michael Attias, Adam Lane, Jean Paul Bourelly, Vincent Segal, Frank London, Herb Robertson among many others. His collaboration with Reut Regev has begun years ago, and throughout the years they have worked intensively in Duo, Trio, Quartet and Quintet formats. This is R*time is the first official recording of their work together.
Jay Rozen
Educated at Ithaca College, Yale University and University of North Texas, tubist, composer, improvisor JAY ROZEN has had a diverse career. From 1978-1980, he was tubist with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. During his "Texas years" (1984-1999), Rozen played and recorded with the Creative Opportunity Orchestra (jazz ensemble), The Capital of Texas Brass Quintet, the Austin Klezmorim and the European Tuba Quartet. Since moving to New York in 1999, Jay has performed with many ensembles, including the American Symphony Orchestra, the SEM Ensemble and the LOW FREQUENCY TUBA BAND. He has performed with jazz greats Ray Anderson, Burton Greene, Perry Robinson, Wadada Leo Smith, Hamiett Bluiett and Charli Persip. Rozen currently performs with Anthony Braxton and can be heard on several of his recent recordings, including the ground-breaking 9 CD/1 DVD set 9 COMPOSITIONS (Firehouse 12 Records). A champion of new music, Rozen has had works written for him by Virgil Thomson, David Lang and Howard Skempton, among others. Jay appears on many recordings, including his own KILLER TUBA SONGS and David Lang's ARE YOU EXPERIENCED? on which he plays the electric tuba. He is currently recording his second solo CD.
Burton Greene
Originally from Chicago, he began his long career of many recordings and performances in New York´s legendary jazz scene of the 1960’s. He and Bassist Alan Silva contributed to the beginnings of free jazz in New York with the formation of their Free Form Improvisation Ensemble in 1963. He also co-founded the East West Trio with Indian sitarist Jamaluddin Bhartiya and percussionist Daoud Amin in 1973, one of the first World Music groups. Since that time he has travelled all over Europe and the USA with performances and recordings of his compositions and arrangements in many different types of music styles and ensembles. As Burton says it: “Music is or should be universal, without limits.. Borders eventually become boring.. they should be transcended.” His !4 piece New Age Jazz Chorale (1975-78) did concerts and recordings in Europe, years before other groups were termed as “New Age”. In the last 20 years he’s been busy with his klezmer, Sephardic, Balkan jazz ensemble Klezmokum, and various jazz solo, trio or quartet combinations. He also has a solo orchestral electronics program, teaches jazz, world music workshops, and lectures. His autobiographical book written over 20 years: “Memoirs of A Musical Pesty-Mystic” appeared in print in 2001 (Cadence Jazz Books). His recent groups based in New York include a duet with bassist Mark Dresser, a quartet with trumpeter Roy Campbell, Lou Grassi, and Adam Lane, concerts and recordings on the CIMP label in trio with Ed and George Schuller on bass and drums, and a quintet with the Schuller brothers, Russ Nolan on saxes and flute, Paul Smoker on trumpet. His solo piano CD “Retrospective 1961--2005 came out (January, 2007) on the CIMP label. In 2008 and 2009 Tzadik Records in New York brought out 2CD’s: his recent group Klez-Edge: “Ancesters, Mindreles, Na-Gila Monsters” and his duo “Two Voices in the Desert” with long term colleague Perry Robinson. A new Klezmokum CD: “Know Where We Come From.. Know Where We’re Going” has just come out (August 2010) on the Music & Words label. Burton´s music is featured on about 60 recordings: records and CD’s.
