CHARLIE HADEN'S LIBERATION MUSIC ORCHESTRA w/ CARLA BLEY
Charlie Haden passed away in 2014. His musical legacy lives on. After discussion between Haden's long-time collaborator, arranger and conductor Carla Bley, and Haden's wife, Ruth Cameron, the two decided to carry on the legacy and complete the final recording that Haden was working on, as well as tour the band. "The music is powerful and beautiful and needs to be performed", both Cameron and Bley agree. "People need to hear this music."
Carla Bley conducts the Liberation Music Orchestra, and Steve Swallow holds the bass chair. The lineup for both the new recording (to be released on Impulse next summer) and the tour, which focus heavily on the environment, is the same group that has been touring together for several years....
