Composers Concordance Presents Eclectic Bands at Nublu 151

For Immediate Release - New York, NY - On Sunday, June 2nd, 2024 at 7pm at NUBLU, Composers Concordance presents the next installment of its Eclectic Bands series. Three diverse musical groups assemble for an evening of wide-ranging music, presented in quick tandem, plus recitations from seven acclaimed NYC poets: Roger Aplon, Robert C. Ford, Erik T. Johnson, Imelda O'Reilly, John Pietaro, Ray Tuttle, and Kelsea Valentine.


Sound Liberation is an eclectic chamber ensemble/band. Its musical philosophy, developed by band founder Gene Pritsker, is based upon "ending the segregation of sound vibration (i.e. musical Genres)". The Di.J. Quartet is a new configuration of the ensemble focusing on Gene Pritsker’s music that utilizes him as Di.J. (Digital Jockey - since he uses a computer to manipulate samples, grooves, etc.) With Gene Pritsker - Di.J., John Clark - horn, Amanda Ruzza - bass, and David Cossin - drums. Premieres Include 'Polly Put The Kettle On' on a poem by Imelda O'Reilly, 'Exonym', and 'MMMM'....

Franz Hackl, trumpeter, composer, and brass instrument maker, is founder and artistic director of the Outreach Orchestra, Festival and Academy and leads his own group, Franz Hackl's IDO Quartet. His forward approach, building on traditions and looking beyond fashionable trends, leads to his distinctive style. With Franz Hackl - trumpets, Michael Wolff - keyboards, Kenny Davis - bass, and Tony Lewis - drums.


Dan Cooper Quartet: Dan’s compositions have been described as "full of instrumental virtuosity and sly humor” (-Fanfare) and “invigoratingly eclectic to the max” (-Strings Magazine). Performing on 6-string bass guitar, Dan shares the stage with Evan Francis - flute and alto saxophone, Yayoi Ikawa - piano and keyboard, and Michael C. Vetter - drum set.
