Join us for our CoPA Artist Hour featuring members of the College of Performing Arts Music community. This week we will be joined by bassoonist and CoPA faculty member Rebekah Heller and sound artist/composer and School of Jazz faculty member Fay Victor.

Called "an impressive solo bassoonist" by The New Yorker, she is fiercely committed to expanding the modern repertoire for the bassoon. Heller’s professional journey epitomizes a hybrid career path that celebrates robust and diverse interests. Brooklyn, NY based sound artist/composer Fay Victor hones a unique vision for the vocalist’s role in jazz and improvised music. Her ‘everything is everything’ aesthetic permeates her work in performance where a song can lead to free improvisation and back again. Victor's released ten critically acclaimed albums as a leader, performed with luminaries such as Randy Weston, Archie Schepp, Gary Bartz, Nicole Mitchell, Marc Ribot, Misha Mengelberg and Tyshawn Sorey. Victor’s latest release, BARN SONGS (Northern Spy, 2019) with her Chamber Music Trio featuring Marika Hughes (cello) and Darius Jones (alto saxophone) has received great reviews. Be on the lookout for SoundNoiseFUNK's WE'VE HAD ENOUGH! (Esp-Disk, 2020), by her current improvising ensemble, coming on October 30, 2020. Victor is currently on the faculty of the New School of Jazz & Contemporary Music
