PECADOS DE PICASSO (The Sins of Picasso) is a hybrid of music, performance art, cabaret and theater centered around 8-10 music themes written by CuCu Diamantes and performed in collaboration with musicians and artists, led by musical director Alain Perez, to express the vitality of Latin-American and Caribbean-American culture. The performance explores 20th century artistic concepts and their impact on society through the treatment of women, minorities and creative communities in the United States and Latin America that often are ignored and lack a voice in mainstream media.

Pecados de Picasso embodies love as a deadly sin, reversing the traditional Western Christian ideas about morality with specific reference to the famous painting by Hieronymus Bosch, The Garden of Earthly Delights. The themes are a mosaic of melodies and rhythms that combine a respect for traditional Cuban and Latin music with contemporary arrangements. Discerning listeners will hear the picaresque, double entendre of traditional trova cubana, with references to 20th century art and culture. Spiritually, the Sins of Picasso evokes the feelings of sadness, loneliness and poverty experienced by most of the ‘folk’ who traditionally created and enjoyed this music, as opposed to the famous white male artists celebrated by museums and universities....
