Double Bill: Francesca Prihasti / Nic Vardanega Quartet And Jonathan Gardner Group at ShapeShifter Lab

PRIHASTI / VARDANEGA QUARTET
Both originally from Indonesia and Australia and now based in New York City, Nic Vardanega and Francesca Prihasti are emerging voices on the international jazz scene. With each being an established composer in their own right, their music draws from a wealth of original material in addition to a deep knowledge of the jazz tradition, which they render with fresh modern interpretations. They will both make their debut at ShapeShifter Lab, presenting compositions from recently composed materials.

JONATHAN GARDNER GROUP
Jonathan is a bassist, composer, and music educator based out of Brooklyn, NY. A professional musician since 2010, he has performed extensively throughout the eastern United States, as well as abroad in Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Latvia. Originally from Louisville, KY, he graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance. Shortly after, he relocated to Brasilia, Brazil where he worked professionally as a musician for three years. In 2016, he moved to New York City to pursue a career in music and continue his formal education. In 2018, he graduated from New York University with a Master of Music in Jazz Performance, where in addition to his studies, he worked as an adjunct music instructor teaching private bass and guitar lessons. Over the years, he has had the opportunity to study with a number of world-class artists such as Drew Gress, Ron Carter, Rufus Reid, Chris Fitzgerald, Martin Wind, Chris Potter, Adam Rogers, Ari Hoenig, and Billy Drummond among others. Jonathan currently maintains a performance schedule as a leader, and participates in a number of diverse musical projects of various ensembles and genres....
