“Armstrong Now: Louis at Newport” featuring Marquis Hill, Bruce Harris, and Anthony Hervey brings together this generation’s leading trumpeters to explore the Armstrong Archives through a contemporary lens. This past fall they performed at the legendary Newport Jazz Festival, celebrating the rich legacy of Armstrong at Newport to an enthusiastic audience of 3,000 Jazz lovers. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Armstrong Now program with Amyra León has been postponed to a fall 2024 date to be announced. Instead, the April 6 program at KCA will present “Louis at Newport,” which features three trumpet players revisiting Armstrong’s legendary performances from the famed Newport Jazz Festival over the years....
