"Time Travel" by the Dave Douglas Quintet is the all instrumental follow–up to the trumpeter’s critically– acclaimed "Be Still" – and even with the identical personnel (sans Aoife O'Donovan), "Time Travel" is its own statement. “I was really interested in what David Toomey wrote in his book The New Time Travelers,” Douglas says. “How the concept of time travel has been around a long time, and how it is evident in the way we think and the way we create: backwards, forwards, all directions at once, beyond the speed of light, rearranging our understanding of cause and effect.” Celebrating his 50th birthday this year, Dave has his sights set on reaching all 50 US states in person – with his horn in tow, bringing live improvised music played at the highest level to listeners who otherwise might not have the opportunity to hear it....
