DCINY Vocal Jazz Festival with Phil Mattson at The Town Hall

Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) welcomes back pianist, arranger, conductor and well-known jazz icon Phil Mattson for a dazzling evening of vocal brilliance and music mastery, featuring an array of jazz ensembles overseen by the lively Mattson and with special guest, singer Michele Weir. The concert
takes place on Easter Sunday, April 8th at 7:00pm at Town Hall, a venue steeped in jazz history that has hosted the likes of Billie Holiday and Dizzy Gillespie.
Distinguished Concert Singers International, bringing together jazz choirs from across the country, will come together to perform jazz classics in arrangements by Mattson, including I Hear Music, Smile, You’re Nobody ‘Til Somebody Loves You, and Michel Legrand's How Do You Keep the Music Playing? The singers will also offer renditions of old favorites like Rodgers & Hart's Do it the Hard Way and Gershwin's Lady Be Good, in addition to arrangements of pop songs by Stevie Wonder, Van Morrison and Ben Folds....

Twice nominated for Grammy Awards, Phil Mattson has written arrangements for vocal jazz ensembles and choirs including Manhattan Transfer, Chanticleer, The Real Group, The Dale Warland Singers, The Four Freshmen, and Clarion Chamber Chorale. As an accompanist, Phil has played with Bobby McFerrin and Mark Murphy, among many others. As a vocal jazz director, Mattson conducts the Carnegie Hall Vocal Jazz Festival and numerous workshops across the US, Canada and Europe, in addition to his own Phil Mattson Singers, based in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Jazz arranger, educator, singer and pianist Michele Weir is a faculty member at the University of California, Los Angeles and a former member of the Grammy-nominated group, Phil Mattson and the PM Singers. Michele’s arrangements have been performed by New York Voices, Manhattan Transfer, The Swingle Singers, and the Boston Pops, among many others.
