The Town Hall & Afro Latin Jazz Alliance celebrate the monumental moments when jazz met the rhythms of Cuba and changed the face of modern music forever. In December 1947, Dizzy Gillespie and Chano Pozo performed their ground-breaking Manteca live at the famed Town Hall in New York City. Consecutively, composer Chico OFarrills masterpiece Afro Cuban Jazz Suite brought together bandleader Machito with OFarrill and Charlie Parker, among others. On January 14 at Town Hall, the continuum pushes forward 75 years later with the next generations of performers keeping Afro Latin jazz alive and well.
