Double Bill: Brett Sroka's Ergo and Ryan Keberle's Catharsis at Seeds Brooklyn

Hope to see some of you at this great double bill. The one and only Ingrid Jensen will be joining us for this show. Brett Sroka's Ergo will play at 8:30pm followed by Catharsis at 10pm.

Last year was one of Ryan's busiest years to date: he toured nationally and internationally with Sufjan Stevens, performed at some of the world’s great concert halls with Maria Schneider, played on the soundtrack to Woody Allen's latest, To Rome With Love, and appeared on NBC with the Saturday Night Live band. This year, Ryan has appeared at South by Southwest with Escort and at the Jazz Standard with the Gil Evans Centennial Project among many, many other musical endeavors. Most importantly, he formed Catharsis, his new groove-oriented band, looking to bridge some of these musically disparate worlds which features Mike Rodriguez on trumpet, Jorge Roeder on bass, and Eric Doob on drums. Band members' credits include Wynton Marsalis, Charlie Haden, Herbie Hancock, Paquito D'Rivera, Gary Burton, Julian Lage, Christian Scott, among many, many others.

Ergo is a minimal, electro-acoustic jazz trio that makes music of stark melodic beauty, atmospheric, oblique timbre and laconic improvisation. Since forming in 2003 they’ve played at festivals in Europe and the US alongside Jandek, Jason Moran, Tim Hecker and Otomo Yoshihide. Their third record, If Not Inertia (with guest Mary Halvorson), was released by the stalwart, avant-prog label Cuneiform Records in 2012.
