With this performance Ergo celebrates the release of their new CD, "If Not Inertia", on Cuneiform Records. Ergo is a unique electro-acoustic jazz ensemble that has been compared to music as diverse as Sun Ra, Sigur Ros, Ellington and Eno. Lead by Brett Sroka - trombone/computer with Bryan Reeder - piano/prepared piano, hohner pianet and Shawn Baltazor - drums, their music is one of stark melodic beauty, enveloping electro-acoustic texture and empathic imagination. The groups third recording, "If Not Inertia", is a set of laconic motifs, guitar effects and minute prepared-piano cresting and colliding in collective improvisations and live-sampling of the entire ensemble. ...
