You find your seat and take a look on stage, expecting to see just another no-name musician on the NYC jazz circuit — instead, you’re laying eyes on jazz legends like Miles Davis and Art Blakey, who are filling the intimate space with the most divine tunes your ears have ever heard.

Fast forward 60 years. That legendary club and all its stories have largely been forgotten as its doors officially closed in 1960, seemingly for good. Though fortunately, it has been restored and reopened underneath the original space, and its resident jazz historian is ready to share the stories and music that transformed it into one of NYC’s most famous jazz lounges....

Join New York Adventure Club as we explore the history of jazz in NYC at the recently reopened Café Bohemia, a historic West Village jazz lounge that has been home to some of the world’s greatest jazz musicians, including John Coltrane, Charles Mingus, and Cannonball Adderly.

Led by Café Bohemia’s resident DJ and jazz historian Matthew “Fat Cat” Rivera, our private experience inside this hidden subterranean jazz club will include:

The story of Café Bohemia, and how legendary saxophonist Charlie Parker unintentionally turned an unassuming restaurant/bar into a first-class jazz lounge, all because he was thirsty
A discussion around key moments, artists, and venues in NYC’s jazz scene between the 1920s and 1960s
A listening party featuring a curated selection of one-of-a-kind 78rpm records, played on vintage high-fidelity speakers throughout the evening
The opportunity to order food, and themed beverages such as the B-sharp Lemonade, Mingus Margarita, or Bold Fashioned
