Originally from Kensington, Maryland, Jeb Patton grew up around classical music and participating in local competitions. At Duke University, Jeb became more interested in jazz, and gained experience playing for numerous guest artists from NYC. In 1996 he moved to NY and continued his studies at Queens College under the tutelage of Jimmy Heath and Sir Roland Hanna.
Since graduating, Jeb Patton has toured throughout the United States and abroad as the pianist with the Heath Brothers, Jimmy Heath, Charles McPherson, Roberta Gambarini, Antonio Hart, Sachal Vasandani, Dmitry Baevsky, Winard Harper, as well as with his own trio. Jeb has also performed at jazz festivals, jazz clubs, and/or on the concert stage with a variety of luminaries and top ensembles including Percy Heath, Tootie Heath, the Jimmy Heath Big Band, George Coleman Quartet, the Dizzy Gillespie Alumni Big Band, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, Sax Appeal, Etta Jones, Jessye Norman, Barbara Cook, James Moody, Maurice Peress, Coleridge Taylor Perkinson, with the Broadway musical, “After Midnight,” and the New York Philomusica to name a few. ...

Jeb’s latest two CDs, Tenthish and Shades and Tones, were released in 2018 and 2016 respectively on the Cellar Live label. In 2009, Jeb recorded New Strides on the MAXJAZZ label. In 2013, Sher Music published the first volume of Jeb’s new book, An Approach to Comping: the Essentials. Volume two of the series, An Approach to Comping: Vol. 2, Advanced Concepts and Techniques was released at the beginning of 2016. Jeb also teaches piano, ear training, transcription, jazz piano for non-pianists, arranging, and improvisation at Queens College, Five Towns College, and NJPAC.
