Jim Funnell Trio + Afuriko at ShapeShifter Lab

The Jim Funnell Trio and AfuriKo (co-led by percussionist Akiko Horii) join
forces to celebrate the release of the African infused jazz duo's new album
Tao, a jazz journey from ancestral Africa to NYC, steeped in deep grooves
with shades of Funk, Pop, Reggae, Bulgarian, and Enka music. Jim won the
Composition Prize at the “Trophées du Sunside” (Paris) and has toured
extensively with both bands (London Jazz Festival, Kanazawa Jazz Street,
Kathmandu Jazz Festival, Jazz en Touraine, Malta Jazz Festival...).
AfuriKo's first two albums (On the Far Side and Style) were chosen to receive full funding from SACEM (French Society of Authors, Composers, and Music Publishers),...
