World-renowned musician Mino Cinelu has assembled a new quartet -- the exciting World Jazz Ensemble -- which enhances Cinelu's virtuosic percussion with a synthesis of bass and tuba. The quartet, comprising Cinelu, keyboardist Jamshied Sharifi, bass guitarist Mamadou Ba, and Bob Stewart on tuba, offers a unique repertoire of instrumental and vocal works, a mélange that bridges world and jazz orchestrations. As a teenager, Cinelu toured and recorded with musical giants Miles Davis, Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Lou Reed and others. Cinelu's multi-instrument collaborations and facility with a wide range of styles established him as a formidable talent. Today he is a renowned composer, producer and band leader. Eddie Henderson is one of the few trumpeters who was strongly influenced by Miles Davis' work of his early fusion period. Henderson has worked with John Handy, Tyrone Washington, Joe Henderson, Herbie Hancock, Art Blakey, Mike Nock, and Charles Earland. In recent years he has played at festivals in France and Austria. His two-night stint at the Jazz Café in London was cited by Blues & Soul Magazine as "one of the concerts of the year." Henderson is a faculty member of Juilliard music school and the Oberlin University jazz department.
