The third of three concerts celebrating the ECM New Series release of "Liaisons: Re-Imagining Sondheim from the Piano", for which pianist Anthony de Mare commissioned 36 composers from the worlds of pop, classical, jazz and other genres to take a Sondheim song and create a piano piece. Four pieces will receive their NYC premieres at this concert: Wynton Marsalis, Duncan Sheik, Jherek Bischoff and Andy Akiho. Other programmed pieces include Steve Reich, Mason Bates, David Rakowski and Derek Bermel, among others.
