The new Lionel Hampton Big Band is mostly comprised of veterans of the band that toured with "Hamp" himself. Playing arrangements from his original book the sixteen piece band maintains the lively spirit and swing that made "Hamp" one of the enduring and loved icons of swing. Vibraphonist and drummer Jason Marsalis, of the celebrated Marsalis family, skillfully honors Lionel Hampton in both technical prowess and showmanship.
