Lucy Wijnands, 26 year old award winning jazz vocalist grew up in Kansas City, also known as the Cradle of Jazz and home to many of the greats that include her father, master stride pianist, Bram Wijnands. Her early years were quite literally spent cradled on her fathers lap while his hands bounced from one side of the piano to the next, giving her an understanding of swing music at a very young age. As a teenager, she began singing at his gigs in Kansas City, further developing her style and later mastering it at SUNY Purchase as an Ella Fitzgerald Scholar.
