Jazz Standard welcomes the electrifying Michael Leonhart Orchestra (MLO) back to our bandstand for another evening of genrecrossing bigband modernism. Trumpeter/composer Leonharts dynamic ensemble includes players from such name aggregations as the DapKings, the Mingus Big Band, the Maria Schneider Orchestra, and The Tonight Show band (The Roots), performing both the leaders originals and his innovative arrangements of songs by WuTang Clan, Duke Ellington, and more. I realized a long time ago that its not even about the music you play, its the spirit with which you approach it.
