Myron Walden, who celebrates his 40th birthday on October 18th, got his start in the early 1990’s as a stirring alto saxophonist. In 1997, he was a founding member of Brian Blade’s Fellowship Band on alto, as well as bass clarinet and, 2003, he joined Ray Barretto’s band where he also served as a composer and arranger. As his writing evolved, he started playing the tenor saxophone as he does with Momentum, a project that takes its inspiration from 1960’s version of the Miles Davis Quintet.
