“As a musician continuing the jazz tradition, I feel it is not only my responsibility to pick up where my fathers left off, but to continually modernize the jazz sound,” says Neal Smith. A longtime drummer for Cyrus Chestnut, Smith brings together several of New York’s best in his quintet, which plays traditional tunes and original compositions with equal freshness and panache.
