Ned Rothenberg composes and performs on saxophones, clarinets, flutes, and shakuhachi (an end blown Japanese flute). An internationally acclaimed performer, he has presented his solo music in concerts for over thirty years in North and South America, Japan, Europe, and Australia. In an ensemble setting, he has lead Double Band, Power Lines, and Sync, his current trio with Jerome Harris (acoustic guitar and acoustic bass guitar) and Samir Chaterjee (tabla). Current and past collaborators include Evan Parker, Marc Ribot, Sainkho Namchylak, Masahiko Sato, Samm Bennett, Kazu Uchihashi, Paul Dresher, the Mivos Quartet, and John Zorn. Recent recordings include the Quintet for Clarinet and Strings (with the Mivos Quartet), The World of Odd Harmonics, Ryu Nashi (new music for shakuhachi), and Inner Diaspora, all on John Zorn’s Tzadik label, as well as Live at Roulette with Evan Parker and The Fell Clutch on Rothenberg’s Animul label.
