Best known as Duke Ellington’s alter ego and a driving force behind the Ellington Orchestra, Billy Strayhorn penned some of the most evocative compositions in jazz.

NYYS Jazz celebrates the centennial of his birth by performing his arrangements such as Lush Life, Such Sweet Thunder and Chelsea Bridge. Scott Ninmer’s Maelstrom will receive its First Music world premiere.
