Founded in 2008 by Director of Jazz Studies Dave Pietro, the NYU Wayne Shorter Ensemble celebrates the legacy of NYU alumnus Wayne Shorter by performing music from across his remarkable career, from Art Blakey and Blue Note to Miles Davis, Weather Report, and beyond. Featuring standout undergraduate and graduate musicians from NYU’s jazz studies program, the ensemble brings Shorter’s visionary compositions to life with fresh energy and deep respect.
