The Paul Austerlitz Quartet will perform in New York City on at 10 pm on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at The Stone (corner of Avenue C and 2nd Street). An ethnomusicologist (or researcher of world music) as well as musician, Dr. Paul Austerlitz has played and studied Afro-Dominican and Haitian music, culture and spirituality since the 1980s; his music fuses traditional Afro-Caribbean Vodou rhythms with contemporary improvisational processes. As an instrumentalist, Austerlitz distinguishes himself as a master of the bass clarinet as well as the contrabass clarinet.
