Paul Winter’s Winter Solstice Celebration is a non-denominational, all-inclusive event featuring new choreography by Forces of Nature Dance Theatre founder and director, Abdel Salaam, based on the rhythms and percussion of Puerto Rico, as well as selections from the world-renowned, ten-member Paul Winter Consort, including dynamic gospel singer Theresa Thomason and a giant “sound tree.” Attendees will witness the world’s largest gong being hoisted to the top of the cathedrals’ 150 foot ceiling to sound the return of the Sun on this longest night of the year. A dazzling extravaganza of music and dance, this glorious, multi-media event celebrates the bounty of the Earth and the spirit of the holidays in one of the city’s most spectacular architectural and historical landmarks.
