Acclaimed composer and bandleader Pedro Giraudo returns to Zinc Bar with his newest formation: his 17-piece big band, "Expansions," broadening the powerful emotional impact of his compositions, which have captivated listeners around the world with their passion and energy. Chip Boaz in the Latin Jazz Corner says “Giraudo's gorgeous artistic expression flows through the music through the colors of Giraudo’s finely tuned compositions." In The Village Voice, Richard Gehr comments “Giraudo's music combines high-concept swing with subtly akimbo Latin American rhythms, witty call-and-and-response conversations, and emotional sustenance aplenty.” And Paul Blair observes in Hot House, “The group is full of compelling soloists. If Mingus were still around, he’d love this group.” ...
