Rocky Middleton began playing acoustic bass at the age of 21 years old. Rocky was self taught before he began to hone his skills at the Jazz Mobile workshop in Harlem, studying under the greats Richard Davis and Lyle Atkinson, and the great tenor saxophonists Jimmy Heath, Clifford Jordan, and Norman Simmons.
