Sofia Rei will present with her sextet songs from her forthcoming album. Sofia is a vocalist and composer from Buenos Aires, Argentina, said to be one of New York’s most passionate, charismatic and inventive musicians.

Sofia's two solo albums have brought her international recognition and great critical acclaim. Sofia has toured the US, Europe, Asia and South America singing in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Cite de la Musique (Paris), Festival internacional de Jazz de Barelona (Spain), Vienna Konzerthaus (Austria), Festival Iberoamericano de las Artes, (Puerto Rico), the International Jazz and Modern music Festival (Bogota, Colombia), the Lapataia Jazz and World Music festival (Uruguay), etc. She has also collaborated with asrtists such as Maria Schneider, Bobby McFerrin, John Zorn and more. Her second CD, Sube Azul, was released by World Village (Harmonia Mundi) in January 2010 received the 2009 Independent Music Award in the World Beat category. Sube Azul features Sofia's original compositions in a mix of jazz and South American folkloric music. It also gathers some of the best musicians on the new jazz and Latin music scene in New York City. Sofia's first album Ojalá was chosen a top ten album of 2006 by the Jazz Journalist Association. Her highly anticipated third album is due for release in the early part of 2012.
