On Thursday, March 24, violinist Sarah Goldfeather performs works by Kate Soper, Julia Wolfe, and Alex Weiser. Goldfeather will also be joined by soprano Justine Aronson and others for the New York premiere of Chris Cerrone's LA-Philharmonic-commissioned The Pieces That Fall to Earth.
Sarah Goldfeather is a Minnesota-born, Brooklyn-based singer, songwriter and violinist. An avid contemporary music violinist and Bang On A Can alumnus, Sarah has worked closely with notable composers including Pulitzer Prize winner Julia Wolfe on her piece with a blue dress on for violin and electronics, which she recently performed in 2015 at TEDxMET at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Pulitzer Prize finalist Chris Cerrone on his Violin Sonata and High Windows for string orchestra, among others. Hailed as “a rising star” by The New Yorker and winner of the 2015 Samuel Barber Rome Prize, Chris Cerrone is a Brooklyn-based composer whose compositional voice is characterized by profoundly expressive lyricism, ringing clarity, and a deep literary fluency....
