She has performed on stage with bossa nova icons Roberto Menescal, Durval Ferreira, Mauricio Einhorn, Wanda Sá, Bebeto Castilho (Tamba Trio) Sergio Ricardo, Leila Pinheiro, JoãoDonato, and musicians such as Léo Gandelman, Márcio Montarroyos, Marcos Suzano, Chiquito Braga, Nivaldo Ornelas, Jean Pierre Zannella, Mauricio Maestro (Boca Livre), JesséSadock, among others and recorded with Naná Vasconscelos, Pery Ribeiro, Gilson Peranzzetta, Joyce and Eric Rigler
In Brazil, Lyra recorded her first solo album Influência do Jazz, which was subsequently released in Japan. Lyra then produced her indie album, Kandagawa. All with arrangements that reflect her bossa nova roots. The other half of the CD emphasizes her own innovative material which ranges from original songs in Portuguese, as well as a bossa folk, a composition based on an Indian chant in Tupi-guaraní, and a song she wrote for the Dorothy Parker poem, "Interior."
Kay also participated in the film/documentary "Coisa Mais Linda" from Paulo Thiago, about the history of Bossa Nova, filmed in Rio de Janeiro, featuring all the great names of that movement such as João Donato, Johnny Alf, Leny Andrade, Roberto Menescal, Alaíde Costa, Carlos Lyra, Billy Blanco, Sergio Ricardo and so on.
