The Havana Film Festival New York together with the Bronx Museum present a special kick-off event with a film screening of “Rumba Clave Blen Blen Blen” followed by a special musical performance featuring award-winning Afro-Cuban jazz pianist and composer Dayramir Gonzalez and his project Dayramir & Habana enTRANCé at the Bronx Museum of the Arts located at 1040 Grand Concourse, Bronx, NY on Friday, March 27th, from 6:00pm-10:00pm. This event is free and open to the public.

Hailed by Carnegie Hall as one of the world’s “distinctive Cuban jazz voices,” Dayramir Gonzalez brings to the stage a blend of Afro-Cuban jazz, mixed with Classical Cuban music of the 19th century while combining contemporary sounds of jazz and popular music without leaving behind the infectious tendencies that make Cuban music so appetizing. The 16th Havana Film Festival New York continues its annual cultural arts exchange with works from prominent and emerging filmmakers. By paying homage to the grand masters of Cuban rumba, such as Chano Pozo and his collaborations with Dizzy Gillespie, Rumba Clave Blen Blen Blen takes us on a historical journey that traces the history of rumba in New York through the words and music of scholars, producers, artists and renowned musicians who continue to practice it today.
