Andy Biskin's 16 Tons plays interpretations of songs from Alan Lomax's monumental collection "The Folk Songs of North America." Their repertory includes ballads, hymns, dance tunes, and children's songs from many American traditions.
Biskin worked for Alan Lomax as his first job right out of college. This project is an attempt to take a fresh look at some of the music that Lomax helped bring into our consciousness. He has a residency at The Stone beginning on April 12th.
