Mingus Mingus Mingus celebrates 55 years of musical evolution. Charles Mingus recorded his grounbreaking record Pithycanthropus Erectus in January 1956 and with it foretold the direction of jazz for years to come. This ensemble deconstructs and revises Mingus's rich compositional legacy in an exhilarating revelation of its enduring relevance. Featuring New School students and alumni: Sarah Charles, voice; Ross Harris, alto sax; Mike Wilbur, tenor sax; Woon Ki Han, guitar; Sam Mortellaro, piano; Dan Parra, bass; Rachel Housle, drums.
