What is Latin Jazz? at Rose Theater

Jazz at Lincoln Center's Family Concert explores the complexities of Latin jazz with GRAMMY® nominee Bobby Sanabria and his Multiverse Big Band in Rose Theater on February 9th. Latin jazz fuses intoxicating Afro-Caribbean and Pan-American rhythms with the elevated harmonic structure and instrumental virtuosity of jazz. drummer, percussionist, and educator Bobby Sanabria will lead his Multiverse Big Band in introducing families to the idiom's concepts and historical timeline. Sanabria's celebrity in Latin jazz is renowned, having shared the stage over the years with Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente, Paquito D'Rivera, Chico O'Farrill, and the Godfather of Afro-Cuban Jazz, Mario Bauzá. This South Bronx native and GRAMMY® award nominee will have audiences of all ages tapping their feet and moving to the beat.
