Flashback to the 1950s. After you round the corner of Barrow Street in the West Village and head inside an unassuming restaurant, you stumble upon a music lounge packed with a jazz-hungry audience. You find your seat and take a look on stage, expecting to see just another no-name musician on the NYC jazz circuit — instead, you’re laying eyes on jazz legends like Miles Davis and Art Blakey, who are filling the intimate space with the most divine tunes your ears have ever heard.

Fast forward 60 years. That legendary club and all its stories have largely been forgotten as its doors officially closed in 1960, seemingly for good. Though fortunately, it has been restored and reopened underneath the original space, and its resident jazz historian is ready to share the stories and music that transformed it into one of NYC’s most famous jazz lounges....
