Keith Gurland Presents "shorts & Suites - New Music by Gurland & Magnani" at Symphony Space

Over his (nearly) three decades as a professional, woodwind master Keith Gurland (http://www.keithgurland.com) has honed a singular melodic approach that cuts across stylistic boundaries. His compositions reflect a diversity of experience which includes jazz, rock, klezmer and Chinese pop. His long-time colleague, guitarist/composer Victor Magnani (http://www.crookedmusic.com), also speaks with a unique musical voice and employs a similarly broad palette of jazz and modern classical elements.

The program, which includes trios and a sextet, has as its centerpiece "Trees, Falling in Forests (Making Sounds)," an epic suite written for Gurland by Magnani and scored for jazz sextet plus string quartet....
