Klazz-Ma-Tazz is thrilled and honored to be back at the famed City Winery as part of thier Klezmer Sunday Brunch series. To help them celebrate the onset of a new Autumn only days earlier, they will be bringing their nostalgically novel arrangements of jazz inspired klezmer classics and brand new original music, in the same vein, to the Winery. Founded in 2014 by violinist and composer Benjamin Sutin, Klazz-Ma-Tazz is a band with a vision to transcend boundaries of labels in music and people. Their music, rooted in the jazz idiom strives to include genuine influence from a multitude of folk music from around the world based on the various ethnic background of each band member; namely Klezmer and Balkan Folk music, Indian Classical Music, Latin Jazz and English Folk Music, finding common musical and cultural identities from which these various forms are derived. Creating this musical melting pot makes NYC the perfect home for Klazz-Ma-Tazz, a city who’s entire history is based on the very idea of uniting people from around the world to create something new and distinct. Klazz-Ma-Tazz released their debut album, Tangibility, in September, 2015 on OneTrickDog* Records. The album has since received airplay on radio stations across the US and from Philadelphia to Hawaii, doubling the band’s global fan base. Tangibility was launched with sold out sets at Greenwich Village's cultural haven, The Cornelia Street Cafe to rave reviews by Fred Stal of RG Magazine, who described the music: “Wild, yet reserved, the music of Klazz-Ma-Tazz will surprise you, excite you and calm you, all in one sitting”....

Motivated by a diverse musical palate and burning passion to connect with people of all creeds through his music, violinist, pianist, composer and educator, Benjamin Sutin is currently living in New York City. He began his career in Philadelphia, where he studied with legendary jazz violinist, John Blake Jr. Sutin has since had the privilege of performing in venues such as: Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium, NJPAC’s Victoria Theater, Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Microsoft Theater, the Nassau Coliseum, Oracle Center, Clifford Brown Jazz Festival among many more. Sutin has performed with Distinguished Concerts International New York, the National Yiddish Theater Folksbiene, Tran-Siberian Orchestra, Arijit Singh, Larry Harlow, Bobby Sanabria, Pandit Samir Chatterjee, Ronnie Burrage, Benito Gonzalez, George Burton, Diane Monroe, and Tommy Byrnes. Finally, he has garnered acclaim in the jazz violin community from the likes of Jean Luc Ponty, Regina Carter, Christian Howes and Sara Caswell. On hearing Sutin for the first time, Caswell wrote, “his adventurous musical lines and underlying creative energy left me feeling that I had witnessed a unique voice destined for something great.” Sutin graduated from Manhattan School of Music in 2015 with a BM in Jazz Violin Performance. He has studied Klezmer and Jewish Music with David Krakauer, Alicia Svigals and Yale Strom. Benjamin currently teaches violin at Tone Academy of Music, Harlem School of the Arts, New Jersey School of Music and at the Elisabeth Morrow School’s Annual Summer String Festival under the direction of Amelia Gold.
In addition to Sutin on violin, the show will feature: Elijah Shiffer (alto sax, clarinet), Rafael Rosa (guitars, pedals), Ben Rosenblum (piano, accordion), Mat Muntz (bass), Tim Rachbach (drums, cajon), Ben Zweig (drums, doumbek).
