Celebrating Kobi Arad's Grammy Runner-up CD "Moments"
May 19, 2013 Brunch and Live Music at the City Winery
The project "Moments" is a tribute to the immense creative output of composer Gyorgy Ligeti. Kobi Arad may very well be one of the most prominent, prolific and versatile pianists and composers to emerge from Israel in recent years. Having collaborated with many great artists such as Stevie Wonder, Cindy Blackman and Jack DeJohnette, Kobi's soulful style brings together sprinklings of classical modern, jazz and neo-soul music that any lover of Jazz would definitely enjoy. Kobi is also in discussions with, Stevie Wonder’s daughter, Aisha, about collaborating on her new, up coming album.
“Moments CD and project are echoing Kobi Arad Band's cutting edge Lincoln Center Jazz and Blue Note NYC shows earlier this season.
Jonathan Levi, on bass is an Israeli musician born to parents of German and Moroccan origins. His musical career began at age of eighteen, when he was chosen to play bass with Israel's leading singer-song writer Yudit Ravitz. Within a short time he became a sought-after session musician who recorded over a hundred records and toured with Israel's top artists both in Israel and worldwide. He was signed to Sony BMG in 2001 (and then 100% rights signed at 2012) for his debut album “Morgning Hero” with his group “Izabo.” He currently resides in New York City.
Ray McNaught is one of NYC's sought after drummers-percussionists. He works in various styles, and groups, which incorporate rap, soul and jazz, at all of which styles, Ray feels at home. He has been recording and performing extensively with the Melting Pot, as well as the Kobi Arad Band.
