The New York Jazz Workshop is proud to present the NYJW Woodwind Ensemble and the Big Band in and exciting double-bill matinee. Please join us at Silvana at 12:30 for music, food, and fun!

The NYJW Woodwind Ensemble is taught by John Sergenian, Bart Platteau, and Marc Mommaas. This ensemble features some of NYJW’s most advanced students performing as a saxophone quartet. You can expect to hear arrangements from Charles Mingus, Yusef Lateef, Lennie Niehaus, Hubert Blake, Dave Bramely, Nick Ayoub, Ralph Martino and many more.

The NYJW Woodwind Ensemble is taught by John Sergenian, Bart Platteau, and Marc Mommaas. This ensemble features some of NYJW’s most advanced students performing as a saxophone quartet. You can expect to hear arrangements from Charles Mingus, Yusef Lateef, Lennie Niehaus, Hubert Blake, Dave Bramely, Nick Ayoub, Ralph Martino and many more.

The New York Jazz Workshop Big Band is under the direction of Ron Horton. As an arranger, Ron has worked with such jazz artists as Andrew Hill, groups such as the Jazz Composers Collective and co-leads a tentet with drummer Tim Horner. This group will be exploring the many different styles that big bands have covered over the decades, from the earlier style of Basie and Ellington, through the freer styles of more recent times. This concert will also feature some original compositions by members of NYJW.
