The Peperoncino Jazz Festival New York session will continue for the next five days at Birdland, one of the most famous jazz clubs in the world, where the Musical Director will be John Patitucci, widely considered one of the best bassists in the history of jazz. The first two evenings will feature the trio of John, pianist Russell Ferrante, and drummer Brian Blade. Patitucci has deep ties to Italy, His grandparents were from Toronto, Castella in Calabria, and Russell Ferrante is also an Italian American. John Patitucci is one of the most in demand bassists of the world, and was a member of Chick Corea‘s Elektric and Akoustic bands, and was also a longtime member of the Wayne Shorter quartet. Ferrante is also a founding member of the Yellowjackets and has toured and recorded with Robben Ford, Joe Farrell, Wayne Shorter, Joni Mitchell, Bobby McFerrin, and many others. Drummer Brian Blade is one of the greatest drummers in the history of jazz music. He has performed and recorded with Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Herbie Hancock, Joe Henderson, Daniel, Lanois, and countless others. All three band members have won multiple GRAMMY’s and have their own groups.
