Alto saxophonist, composer, and "style master" (JazzReview.com) Pete Robbins moved to New York in September, 2002, and has since performed or recorded with Craig Taborn, Ben Monder, Mario Pavone, Tyshawn Sorey, John Zorn, Dan Weiss, Thomas Morgan, Kenny Wollesen, and others. He has achieved "spiraling notoriety within global jazz circles" (JazzReview.com), and his releases “Waits and Measures” (2006, Playscape), “Do The Hate Laugh Shimmy” (2008, Fresh Sound/New Talent), and "siLENT Z - live" (2010, Hate Laugh Music) were each included in multiple year-end top-10 lists. Robbins has been featured in Downbeat, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, National Public Radio, DRS-2 (Swiss public radio), and many other outlets. For his compositional achievements, Chamber Music America awarded Robbins with their prestigious “New Works: Creation and Presentation” grant as well as their "New Works: Encore" award....
