About

Robert Stillman composes music for simultaneous, multi-instrumental performance using piano and percussion modified for the feet. Expanding this 'one-man-band' set-up to include a small ensemble of brass and percussion (including Sam Sadigursky, Jeremy Udden, and Kenny Warren), the repertoire in this program reflects Stillman's interest in juxtaposing the archaic with the futuristic, and the mechanical with the human, drawing influences from early American popular song and folk musics, as well as composers such as Mingus, Ellington, Weill, and Satie.
