Steven Feifke is a New York City based pianist, composer and arranger. A self proclaimed "lover of sounds and rhythm," the 25 year old is known around the world as one of the many promising young musicians of his generation.
Since its debut in 2013 at the 92Y TriBeCa, the Steven Feifke Big Band has developed an eclectic repertoire of original compositions and reimagined standards alike. Comprised of 17 young lions on the jazz scene today, Feifke's band brings new energy to his exciting music. In the summer of 2014, Feifke and his big band premiered a full length rearrangement of George Gershwin's all-time American Classic "Rhapsody In Blue" for big band and classical piano commissioned by the 23Arts Initiative.
When not writing for his own bands, Feifke can often be found working in a wide variety of settings ranging from stage to screen. In addition to writing for musicians like Michael Dease, Ulysses Owens, Chris Norton and Chad Lefkowitz-Brown, some select TV appearances of Feifke's music include Seinfeld's "Comedians in Cars" with President Obama, and the hit show "Impractical Jokers" on True TV. Feifke also composes for both animated and live-action film. As a pianist, Feifke maintains an active performance schedule both in and out of New York City at venues like The Blue Note, Smalls Jazz Club, and Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola at Lincoln Center, and was a semifinalist in the 2011 Thelonious Monk Competition. Feifke's debut record "Peace In Time" features his seven piece ensemble, and has received much critical acclaim since its release in January 2015. Feifke currently resides in New York City, and holds a bachelors degree in music and a minor in economics from New York University.
