Sun ra - a Centennial Year Celebration at Live @ Belmararts

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of composer Sun Ra, the "Nacht Ensemble," musicians and artists involved with the experimental music record label Nacht Records, will present an evening of music and spoken word inspired by Sun Ra at the Belmar Arts Council on Sunday May 18th from 5-8pm. Musicians from New York City such as bassist Shayna Dulberger and guitarist Dave Ross will be improvising alongside members of notable NJ avant garde bands Mothguts and Daughter Vision. Spoken word performances of Sun Ra's "cosmic poetry" will be also be featured throughout the afternoon, read by members of the thriving Asbury Park poetry scene...

The performance will also be interactive with the audience, much like Sun Ra's performances were, with musicians performing from all different areas of the room and encouraging audience members to participate.
