The Ebony Brass Quintet (EBQ), 2 trumpets, French horn, trombone, tuba is a performer-composer jazz chamber ensemble that was formed in 1988. EBQโs Mission is to present original African-American music with emphasis on highlighting outstanding African-American figures and moments in African-American history. EBQ's debut CD, "Brand New Bag" Mapleshade#03032, received strong reviews in "Cadence" and "Jazztimes". The EBQ has performed concerts with Hartford Jazz Festival, AACM, Newark Museum, WNYC, Springfield, N.J. Library, New York Academy of Art, Harlem Black Box Theater, Newark, N.J. and Public Schools. EBQ members have extensive backgrounds in both Jazz and European classical music; all players are improvisers, original compositions are developed by members.
