Master jazz pianist Larry Vuckovich had the fortune of becoming acquainted with the early forms of Brazilian music from before the bossa nova movement came on the scene. In the mid-50s, Larry was introduced to the recordings of Laurindo Almeida, who played a major role in the preÐbossa nova movement and later continued the Brazilian influence that resulted in what became known as bossa nova. Almeida knew and performed the music of two important Brazilian jazz masters: guitarist Garoto, and pianist Radames Gnattali.
