Siskiyou Music Project welcomes the Rebecca Kilgore trio featuring Randy Porter on piano and Tom Wakeling on bass for their first performance at the Old Siskiyou Barn.
Becky has performed worldwide at jazz festivals, jazz parties, and jazz cruises. She has been a frequent guest on National Public Radio’s ‘Fresh Air’ with Terry Gross, has appeared on ‘A Prairie Home Companion’, and with Michael Feinstein at Carnegie Hall.
Rebecca has been a mainstay of the Portland Jazz scene for many years and has performed at many other great venues including Feinstein’s at the Regency; and Birdland in NYC; The Plush Room at the York Hotel in San Francisco, The Jazz Bakery and Steamers Jazz Club in southern California, The Nash in Phoenix, Arizona, Shanghai Jazz in New Jersey among others. She was honored to have been inducted (in 2010) to the Oregon Music Hall of Fame and to the Jazz Society of Oregon’s Hall Of Fame, and to have been invited to perform at New York’s Mabel Mercer Cabaret Convention for three years at Town Hall and Lincoln Center. She was the guest of honor at the 2013 Roswell (New Mexico) Jazz Festival, and honored as a Jazz Legend at the San Diego Jazz Party in 2016....

Jazz pianist Randy Porter has a refined understanding of improvisation and the spontaneous communication between musicians. Nominated for the 60th Grammy Awards, Randy’s recent release Porter Plays Porter with Nancy King is a mix of swing, harmony and lyrical adventure. In the spirit of Cannonball Adderley and Nancy Wilson, tunes featuring Nancy King are interspersed with instrumental tracks featuring the Randy Porter Trio. This album is produced with an intimate listening environment in mind. John Wiitala on bass and Todd Strait on drums bring their wonderful swing skill set and intuition to Randy’s arrangements of Cole Porter tunes. Randy’s original song, Inside Your Mind, adds to the poignancy and beauty of this project.
For over 40 years, Tom Wakeling has put his bass to work at jazz festivals, concert halls, and jazz clubs throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.
Tom has performed with many jazz greats, including Arturo Sandoval, Lee Konitz, Mel Torme, Benny Golson, James Moody, Herb Ellis, Mose Allison, Charlie Rouse, Houston Person, Ken Peplowski, Ernie Watts, Scott Hamilton, Charles McPherson, Carl Fontana, and Herb Geller. Among the rhythm section greats he has performed with are Albert “Tootie” Heath, Jeff Hamilton, Mickey Roker, Lewis Nash, Butch Miles, Grady Tate, Mike Clark, Chuck Redd, Dave Frishberg, Bill Mays, Tamir Hendleman, Roger Kellaway, Mike Wofford, Bill Cunliffe, Art Lande, Edward Simon, and Bruce Forman.
An experienced and dynamic educator, Tom has served as a guest artist at the Wuhan (China) Conservatory of Music, Taichung (Taiwan) University, Stanford University Jazz Workshop, Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, University of Kansas, Arizona State University, University of Nevada, UC Fullerton, University of Arizona, University of British Columbia, Centrum – Pt. Townsend Jazz Workshop, Douglas College Summer Jazz Intensive, Jazz Camp West, and the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, among others.
